De17e Etappe…… van Tikhomirovo naar Edirne(Turkije)…………… We zijn er bijna, we zijn er bijna
Whaaaauuuuw we komen in de buurt, de 17de etappe is begonnen en we zitten hemelsbreed 100 km van de Turkse grens. Het gaat goed mag ik wel zeggen. De paarden Jan & Karel staan er prima bij en we hebben er met elkaar nog steeds heel veel zin in. De teamwisseling gaat voortreffelijk, er is tot nu toe geen enkele keer iets fout gegaan. Iedereen is op tijd en op de afgesproken plaats die men vrijdag via een sms doorkrijgt. Wat wil je nog meer. Och er is nog wel iets te wensen. De paarden staan er Welleswaar goed bij maar de eerste schuur- en doordrukplekjes manifesteren zich. We behandelen ze twee maal per dag, in de ochtend en na de rit. Jan is er niet zo van gecharmeerd, maar met wat fratsen en linke acties lukt het de spulletjes op zijn lijf te krijgen. We hebben gel-pads aangeschaft en dat helpt een beetje. Nog zo’n slordige 350 km volhouden jongens en hopen dat het niet erger wordt. Afgelopen week hebben we voor, naar ik hoop, de laatste keer alle ijzers laten vervangen. De ijzers die Frank en Gerrie meegaven doen het prima en worden door de smeden hier met veel respect behandeld omdat ze van het beste merk zijn. Gelukkig vonden we een hele goeie professionele smid Peter die heel vakkundig de ijzers bij de paarden onderzette.We zijn op dit moment druk in de weer om alle formaliteiten voor elkaar te krijgen zodat we gemakkelijk de grens kunnen passeren. De contacten met de aankomstplaatsen in Istanbul zijn weer aangetrokken en zoals het er nu uitziet staan Jan & Karel op 27 augustus 2012 op het strand van Silivri. Mijn mederuiter/amazone MaJet en ik mogen er naast staan.

De kwartiermakers en ruiter 17de etappe
We hebben weer een leuk team bij elkaar. Vader en dochter Eva en Ben als de kwartiermakers en Gé uit Mechelen zuid Limburg waar je perfecte vakantiehuisjes bij kunt huren in een hele mooie omgeving. Wil je er meer over weten schrijf dan hieronder aan de pagina van de 17de etappe een reactie en Gé bezorgt je alle informatie. Ben, weer een goeie vriend heeft behoorlijk wat reparatie en herstelwerk verricht de eerste dagen aan caravan en paardenwagen. Ben blij met Ben. Ook de Roflex omheining is weer geheel en al gerepareerd, dankzij Torsten Mendel die een flink aantal onderdelen en palen per snelpost liet bezorgen.

Wisseling van de wacht van 16 naar 17
Afgelopen weekend vond de wisseling van de teams plaats. Jan & Anne en Nikkie & Sanne werden ingeruild voor Ben & Eva en Gé. We hadden een hele gezellige overdracht. De meiden, Nikkie & Sanne vetrokken zaterdag. De nieuwe ploeg werd zondag door Jan aan de grens Bulgarije/Turkije, opgehaald en Anne en ik maakten samen de boel helemaal schoon vertrokken. Zondagavond zijn we gezellig uit geweest en hebben het ervan genomen. De overdracht ging prima. Apart ook deze week weer is dan Ben en dochter Eva erbij zijn en Gé zijn tweede week meerijdt na de week met Kees als kwartiermaker etappe 7. Gé heeft er zin in en we hebben wederom een gezellig team in 17.
Ben gaat de laatste drieweken mee en ook daar ben ik heel blij mee. Maar ook heel mooi is dat volgende zondag MaJet aankomt samen met Carla. Zij zijn er de laatste 2 weken bij. Ik verheug me er al weken op, niet dat ik aankom en mijn avontuur ten einde komt want dat is en blijft heel jammer. Nog geen enkel moment dacht ik “idioot ga toch naar huis“ of “waar ben ik aan begonnen”.
We gaan ervoor en maken de toer helemaal af.

Zondag wisseldag met veel plezier
De zondag was helemaal leuk. Een deel van het 16 team bleef om het 17 team aan de grens op te halen en voor een goede overdacht te zorgen. We hebben de hele dag plezier gehad en verhalen zitten vertellen. De maandag was voorbereid en we konden maandagochtend zo vertrekken. Eerst nog een paar foto’s met de gastheer en dan maar ju peerdje ju.

Van Znamenosec naar Mednikarovo, Dragomir bakt ze bruin
Van een grote ondernemer naar een plaatselijke ondernemer. Beiden sympathiek en zeer gastvrij. Wat je hier allemaal meemaakt is onbeschrijfelijk, leuk, gezellig uitnodigend en plezant. Na een geweldige tocht, Gé’s eerste, door een glooiend landschap met vele sloten, irrigatiekanalen en grote, hele grote omgeploegde akkers., kwamen we op een pracht locaties aan. Onderweg waren we overigens op een verboden terrein terecht gekomen zodat we een heel team met securitymannen om ons heen kregen staan. Foto’s mochten niet gemaakt worden en de ID’s getoond. We plannen de tochten zo dat de paarden er ook goed uitkomen. Kort en vroeg weg. Het is warm, moordend warm en zeker na 1300u. Vroeg weg en routes die niet te lang zijn (by the way soms kom je er niet onderuit om 35 km of meer te lopen i.v.m. de overnachtingslokatie). Was het bij George op zijn geweldige bedrijf prima in orde allemaal en werden we flink verwend, de paarden ook. We kregen ook nog worsten, fruit en groente mee voor de komende weken. Bij de volgende plek, bij Dragomir was het echt niet minder . Eén groot feest waar we om 1400u inrolden en we tegen de klok van 2000u eindelijk weg mochten. Alles moesten we nog doen aan de caravan en ons slaapplaatsen. Voor Jan & Karel was prima gezorgd. Wat minder was is dat de paarden in een duivenhok stonden, vol met rondvliegende wezens. Overigens het hok was ruim en hoog genoeg. In de ochtend zaten onze vriendjes wel helemaal onder de duivenstront dus….poetsen maar.

Van Mednikarovo naar Pomostnik
Van Dragomir kwamen we terecht bij Ivan de burgemeester van Pomostnik. Ook weer geweldig. Lunchen met de plaatselijke bevolking en genieten van plaatselijk producten. De tocht was weer spannend en prachtig. Een groot deel hebben we naast de bergen bruinkool gelopen en de afstand was voor Jan & Karel heel draaglijk, 14 km. Gé deed zijn best om alle schuine heuvels goed te nemen en die zaten er nogal wat in. Ook en opnieuw beseffen we dat Jan & Karel toch wel heel bijzondere paarden zijn. Even terug naar de mensen hier. Ik gaf het al aan dat de gastvrijheid enorm is. Onze Eva doet het geweldig we hadden haar al een paar keer kunnen uithuwelijken. Ze ligt bij jong en oud, man en vrouw goed in de markt. Vanmiddag kreeg ze het schort van oma, geheel geborduurd, voorzien van belletjes en franjes en meer dan 50 jaar oud. De mannen kregen hoofddoekjes van katoen om morgen op hun hoofd te knopen tegen de warmte en het zweet. Nu ik hier zit te werken, komt er een vrouw met een grote watermeloen, snijdt die in stukken en biedt aan, aan ons. We worden echt verwend en zijn ook wel een beetje verlegen onder al dit genot. Mensen ga naar Bulgarije en vooral naar het platteland. Je verstaat er geen zak van, maar alle gebaren werken prima. Voor het avondeten hebben we de twee zusjes uitgenodigd om met ons spaghetti te eten. Het werd een avond met heel veel plezier en vermaak. Toen we in de ochtend vertrokken werden er meloenen, en zakken vol groenten aangeleverd en een paar zelf gebrouwen flessen wijn. WAT WIL JE NOG MEER. Oké de paarden stonden ’s nachts in een grote buitenluchtruimte samen met kippen, ganzen en geiten en moesten hun ontbijt ook met ze delen, maar das toch niet zo erg.

Loes bracht een zak met Delftsblauw spul mee en Martina een zak vol met leesbrillen. Alles om weg te geven op basis van ervaringen die zij beiden opdeden op hun reizen. Nou ik kan inmiddels zeggen, als je ver gaat, neem van dit spul mee. Op dit moment zitten we met twee zusjes van rond de 60 aan tafel die graag hun adres willen opschrijven zodat we foto’s kunnen opsturen. Ze zijn nogal kippig en de leesbrillen van Martina doen wonderen. We geven ze er ieder een en zeggen dat ze ze mogen houden. Nou geweldig de reactie die daar op volgt, eindelijk kan ik zien wat er staat. Kaartjes hangen er nog aan en dieptestickers zitten er nog op, maar ze kijken er gewoon langs en doorheen.
De molentjes, huisjes en klompjes doen het ook heel goed. Daar waar we ze achterlaten wordt er meteen een plekje op de schoorsteen ingeruimd voor de komende 30 jaar. Zij zijn blij, maar wij vooral. Goed idee Loes en Martina !!!!

Bij het afscheid hadden we al gehoord dat het een mooie tocht zou worden dwars door het land van Pomostnik naar Balgarin . Eva wilde heel graag een tocht meemaken op het paard. Ze heeft vroeger veel gereden en dat kun je dan ook best wel zien. Gé, de ruiter van deze week, was zo sociaal en aardig om één van zijn dagen af te staan aan Eva en aldus geschiedde. We maakten een prachtige tocht, eerste stuk wel over asfalt, maar daarna door een prachtig haast romantisch pad. Het was warm, maar de wind hielp ons het hoofd een beetje koel te houden. Na een tocht van 4,5 uur kwamen we mooi op tijd binnen voordat het echt snoeiheet zou worden. Weer op een pracht locatie. Bij het binnenlopen van het dorp stonden er al mensen klaar om ons uit te nodigen voor het avondeten, we werden om 1900u verwacht….dus zitten we weer goed. Wat er met al die groente en fruitvoorraden moet in onze kasten is en blijft een raadsel. Uitdelen heeft geen zin, want iedereen hier op het platteland heeft zijn eigen volkstuin. De caravan en paarden staan bij een jong gezin, de knecht van Georgi,. Georgi zelf is werkzaam in Spanje en gelukkig spreekt Eva goed Spaans dus hoefden we het niet benauwd te krijgen dat er weer allerlei spraakverwarringen zouden ontstaan. De kinderen zijn gek op Jan & Karel en zijn er de hele tijd mee bezig. Wij hebben er een huisdiertjes voor deze nacht bij. Bij Georgi thuis hadden we een gezellige en leuke avond.

Een camping met topvoorzieningen fijne laatste rustplaats voor Turkije
Van Balgarin naar Biser lopen was een mooie tocht. In het begin asfalt maar na een kilometertje of 5 konden we de akkers en open ruimte op. Er stond een lekker briesje en de vergezichten waren weer om echt over naar huis te schrijven wat ik dus dan ook maar ff doe. We kwamen bij een camping aan waar de voorzieningen top waren. Fijn als je rustdag hebt: kleren wassen, douchen en de spullen schoonmaken. ’s Avonds hebben we, of je het gelooft of niet, in een plaatselijk restaurantje friet met frikandel gegeten. Morgen koken we weer zelf, dat staat vast. De gastheer, campingeigenaar zal ons zeker niet uitnodigen. Voor hem zijn we een klant net als alle andere bezoekers. Hier in de omgeving wonen en werken hele hordes Britten die hier een onderkomen kochten en dat helemaal opknapten. Ze hebben heel veel onderling contact en zeggen hier erg te genieten.

Team van de week
Het was weer een leuke week deze week van de 17de etappe. De ritten waren steeds kort en het vertrek vroeger dan tijdens de andere etappes. Dat betekende dat we iedere keer weer vroeg binnen waren en met elkaar allerlei thema’s konden bespreken. Gezellig en ook goed. Verder hebben we ook veel tijd aan het onderhoud kunnen besteden van alle zaken die we meezeulen door Europa. Gé, Ben en Eva hartstikke bedankt voor deze week en het samenzijn. Van Ben nemen we nog geen afscheid want hij gaat de laatste twee weken ook nog mee en dat vind ik heel prettig.

De grensovergang
Zaterdagochtend in alle vroegte gingen we de grens over. De grenspapieren, uitslagen bloedonderzoek en papieren afgegeven door de Bulgaarse Veterinaire dienst zijn allemaal op en in orde. Vasco, de zoon van Alex Tonev en Yuri kwamen ons in alle vroegte ophalen. Zij brengen Jan & Karel met een officieel transport over de grens. Hij komt ons over 3 weken ook weer ophalen en de grens overhelpen.
Het was een heel gedoe. Opstaan 06.00 uur, ontbijten, alle spullen opruimen en de paarden reisklaar maken. Om klokslag 07.30 uur stonden Yuri en Vasco met hun 4WD en trailer voor de caravan. Een kwartier later waren we onderweg. Gé en ik reden met hen mee. Ben en Eva zouden de caravan en paardenwagen de grens overbrengen. Rond het klokje van 08.30 uur arriveerden we aan de grens en kon het wachten beginnen. Verdomme, Vasco was zijn paspoort vergeten. Maar geen zorg, Jurie kan het ook. We reden/liepen van het ene naar het andere kantoor en overal kregen we ingevulde en gestempelde papieren mee. Dan weer stukkie rijden, een meter of 100 en dan weer een kantoortje in. We stonden tussen de veewagens geladen met kalveren, schapen en koeien. Hier en daar stond er een paardenwagen tussen. Dan gaat mijn telefoon. Het is Ben: “Noud jij moet zelf de auto komen inklaren en in je paspoort laten aantekenen anders kun je straks het land niet uit met dat ding en je moet hem zelf als eigenaar overbrengen”. Oké, ik naar de overkant en zoeken. Ook hier weer een heleboel gedoe. Eindelijk konden we over en inmiddels was het, schrik niet, 12.30 uur. De paardenwagen kwam een half uur later. We zijn op weg gegaan en vonden een camping waar we nu gaan wachten tot MaJet en Carla er zijn, das morgen en we aan het laatste stuk van deze ontzettend fijn reis kunnen gaan beginnen. MAAR WE ZIJN NU IN TURKIJE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nog pech onderweg
Op weg naar de grens hadden Ben en Eva nog pech met de caravan. Er moest wat aan gesleuteld worden en vermeldenswaard is dat Ben het verkeer ging staan te regelen en Eva onder de caravan lag. Zij heeft het euvel wel helemaal verholpen waardoor de vertraging die opgelopen werd heel erg meeviel. Eva, geweldig en bedankt mooi werk.

Het lukte ons vrij snel een overnachtingsplek te vinden in Edirne, een paar kilometer van de Turkse grens. Camping met zwembad, waar Eva meteen in dook. De paarden staan weer in hun Roflexs onderkomen en de caravan onder een stel flinke bomen. We gaan ff genieten en wachten op de komst van MaJet en Carla. Als ik er maar van kan slapen. Tot de volgende week.
